Jay Bhakta's Profile
Like many Indian Americans across the United States I grew up and watched my parents dedicate their lives to running a small roadside inn where I saw their dedication and work ethic in achieving the American dream. It was only natural to follow in their field in hopes to take their achievements to expand on their legacy. I did my undergraduate at the University of Houston in Hotel and Restaurant Management, and after that I was fortunate enough to study abroad in Switzerland at Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne where I did my MSc in Global Hospitality. My professional path started with hands-on experience working in hotels and later expanded into real estate and consulting, where I developed a deeper appreciation for the ownership and development side of the business.
Today I work through BS Properties and COVA Hospitality, where I’m involved in developing and operating hospitality and commercial projects. I’m naturally curious and enjoy learning from people across different industries and perspectives. That curiosity has also led me to take a deeper interest in local policy and civic issues, particularly where they intersect with development, infrastructure, and economic growth.
At the end of the day, I enjoy building my community and I’m always open to conversations with people who share that same mindset.
